An outbreak of viral conjunctivitis-Mims Hospital

Initial symptoms:

1- Foreign body sensation
2 -Itching

3- Watering

4- Mid discharge

5- Redness

Those who are having these symptoms are requested to avoid touching the eyes.

If any of the symptoms do occur please wash your eyes gently with clean water and take rest.

Those affected are not supposed to travel.

Avoid activities which cause eye strain like reading and watching TV

Most common route of spread is direct contact and droplet

Frequent hand washing minimize spread of infection

Frequent cleaning of commonly used door handles can be considered

Obesity and Weight Loss Surgery

Medical condition caused by the accumulation of fat leading to a negative impact on health is called obesity. It’s disgraceful that our country holds the third position among obese countries in the world. As per an eminent journal, India is behind US and China with the highest number of people with obesity. According to latest survey by India Government more than 21% of Indian population is under poverty line. Third obsessed country in the world with 21% of its population in poverty? Doesn't it sound heinous??

Drastic change in the lifestyle and unhealthy habits is leading Indian population towards silent self-destruction. Obesity is measured in terms of BMI (Body Mass Index). A BMI of over 25 kg/m^2 is considered overweight internationally, whereas according to Indian Council of Medical Research, a person with BMI of over 23 kg/m^2 is overweight. Based on a dossier from 2007 National Family Health Survey, Punjab is the top most state in India with highest number of people with obesity followed by Kerala and Goa respectively.
