An honored salute to the relatives for the acceptance of donation of heart, liver, kidneys and eyes of left soul Mr. Shibu Joseph who was declared brain dead due to cerebral hemorrhage at MIMS hospital, Calicut on 13-12-15, Sunday.
The relatives of Mr. Shibu Joseph (55) from Kandarapallil House, Mananthavady, Wayanad and originally from Kurupanthara, Pala who was declared brain dead following a cerebral hemorrhage have set another example donating his organs. His organs donated to 6 other people.
Mr. Shibu’s brain death was declared at MIMS on 13th December (today) 7 PM. He was admitted at MIMS on 11th December. His Wife Sherly Shibu (52) Vettukallel House, Pala and his children informed us the willingness to donate all his organs.
Heart, Liver, two kidneys and two eyes were donated. Liver and Heart transplanted to patients at MIMS Calicut. The Liver transplanted to a 54 year old male from Kottiyoor. The heart donated to a 56 year old male from Mahe, Kannur. Kidneys donated to hospitals in Kochi and two eyes donated to Eye Bank, Calicut.
Mr. Shibu Joseph was proprietor of St. Joseph Wood Industries at Mananthavady. He felt headache on Friday morning and suddenly fallen unconscious and was taken to the nearby hospital and later shifted to MIMS Hospital on sameday.
The heart harvesting and transplanting surgeries were conducted by Chief cardiac surgeon, Dr Murali P Vettath and Anaesthetist, Dr Kanna AV.
The liver harvested and transplanted by Dr. Sajeesh Sahadevan, Dr.Rajesh Nambiar, Dr. Rohit Ravindran and Dr. Seethalakshmy and Anaesthetist Dr. Bindya VM Kutty and Dr Ramesh Kumar KM.
The dead body will be taken to Manathavady on Tuesday and will be buried at Kurupanthara on Wednseday.Mr. Shibu Peter, brother in law of Mr. Shibu Joseph has played a vital role in receiving the willingness for organ donation from shibu’s family. He is an active State Joint Coordinator of the Kidney Federation of India lead by Father Davis Chirammel.
