Vengeri village in our district consisting of 4 wards of Calicut corporation, is now heading towards a mass campaign for educating the whole family in the village on the importance and necessity of organ donation. They are also setting up an office in the Village to constantly interact with the community to create awareness, facilitate donor registration and also to serve as an active interface between the family and the transplant centre in the event of brain death of any of the registered donor in the Village.

Taking lessons from the achievement of Thalakkulathur Village who has already achieved 260 eye donations through similar campaign, Vengeri Village is now planning not only eye donations but any organ or tissues that can be transplanted to save a life. Their ultimate vision is to make organ donation a culture of the village by creating awareness.

They have meticulously planned to achieve this goal in a time bound manner. we are so happy to let you all know that MIMS also got an opportunity to be part of this noble initiative. Dr. Firoz (Nephrologist) and Dr. Krishnamohan (Transplant Surgeon) made a very good presentation and they addressed the people to clear their doubts as part of the awareness campaign. Thanks to Dr. Firoz and Dr. Krishnamohan.

All our best wishes to this noble initiative.
