Organs donated to four hospitals in Trivandrum, Cochin and Calicut.
The relatives of Mr. Santhakumar (47) who was declared brain dead following a cerebral vascular stroke have set another example donating his organs to four other people. Mr. Santhakumar from Kolanchery, Cherthala, was brain dead at AIMS, Cochin on Tuesday at 10.40 AM. Two kidneys, heart and liver donated to patients at four different hospitals from Trivandrum to Calicut. The Brothers of Mr. Santhakumar (Single) signed the willingness to donate the organs.
One Kidney transplanted to a patient at AIMS, another kidney donated to Trivandrum Medical College, Heart donated to Lissy Hospital, Kochi and Liver brought to MIMS Calicut.
The Liver was transplanted to a 65 year old male from Kannur on the same night in MIMS Hospital. He was under treatment of Gastroenterology department at MIMS. The surgery was conducted by the liver transplant surgeons Dr. Sajeesh Sahadevan, Dr. Rajesh Nambiar, Dr. Rohit Ravindran and Dr. Seethalakshmy with the support of Anaesthetist Dr. Kishore K. The patient is in MIMS transplant ICU and recovering.
Mr. Santhakumar was working in a bar restaurant in Cherthala.
